Momo House
If you're anywhere near Reading and craving comforting, flavorful, homestyle Nepali and Indian food, then Momo House at 28 Farnham Dr, RG4 6NY is one place you’ll want on your radar. This cozy, unassuming gem effortlessly combines traditional Himalayan warmth with a seriously impressive menu-and I’m not just talking about momos.
The Chicken Momo here is where many first-timers start, and it makes sense. These juicy dumplings are packed with marinated chicken, perfectly steamed (or fried, if you're feeling indulgent), and come with a tangy, spicy dipping sauce that’s borderline addictive. But don’t stop there. Their Vegetable Momo version isn’t just an afterthought-it’s got depth, with a delicate blend of spices and texture that even non-vegetarians go back for.
Now, if you’re a curry lover, you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice. Butter Chicken is rich and creamy, with just the right balance of sweet and savory. If you're after something with more heat and earthiness, the Chicken Curry hits those notes with confidence. Want variety? Their Naan Rice and Curry Thali Dish is a winner-it gives you a little bit of everything: rice, naan, curry, and side bits, beautifully plated and generously portioned.
Seafood? They’ve got you. The King Prawn Dansak is a standout, marrying the sweetness of prawns with the tanginess of a lentil-based sauce that’s comforting and bold all at once. The Nepali Dish Grill Fish, served with roasted onions and spice-blushed sides, is a lighter but equally satisfying option if you’re leaning healthier.
Speaking of healthier options, Momo House doesn’t skimp on variety. You’ve got vegan dishes, vegetarian specialties, and even gluten-free options to keep everyone happy. Their Paneer Chilli brings the right mix of chewy cheese and zingy sauce, while the Veg Dumphuk Biryani is fragrant, filling, and doesn’t hold back on flavor.
For the grill lovers, the Mixed BBQ Platter is a carnivore’s dream-Lamb Chops, Grilled Chicken, Oven BBQ Lamb Kebab, and Chicken Wings, all cooked just right and served sizzling. You can pair it with soft Naan Bread and Plain Rice, or go fusion with Chow Mein or Noodles if you’re in the mood for something different.
The vibe? Super chill. Whether you’re doing a solo lunch, grabbing dinner with friends, or out for a family meal, there’s a spot for you here. Their outdoor seating is a bonus when the weather’s nice, and accessibility is clearly a priority-wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and seating make it welcoming to all guests.
Service-wise, they’ve got it covered: dine-in, takeaway, delivery, and even kerbside pickup for those on the go. Need a late bite? They serve late-night food, too. And yes-they’ve thought of your drink, whether it’s a House Red Wine, a cold beer, a spirit, or just a steaming cup of coffee. Don’t forget to ask for free water refills-a small touch, but appreciated.
Dessert fans, don’t skip the final course. Momo House is known for great desserts, and whether it's something traditional or a modern sweet treat, you’ll find something that caps off the meal with a smile.
All in all, Momo House isn’t just a place to eat-it’s a full-on flavor experience.

This was delicious, I don’t think I’ve eaten so quickly in my life, the food is so authentic and is the best Nepalese food I’ve had in the uk and the staff were lovely!!
Couldn’t fault the service and quality of food. We’ve been ordering takeaway for a while here but finally visited in-person. Place was even nicer than I expected, lovely inside and service really nice. They were super welcoming and food came hot and delicious. Sorry didn’t take pics as I was too excited to eat!!
Just celebrated my daughter’s 16th birthday at Momo’s this evening. Dining here is like being with family, they’re friendly and generous hearted; let us bring our balloons and special birthday cake to surprise her with after the meal as well.Thank you Momo for making our daughter’s birthday out very special
Found this restaurant for the first time. What a gem. Having visited Nepal in 2024 I was excited to get my fix of momos. They were indeed delicious, but the other food was also authentic and delicious too. We visited on a Tuesday night and took advantage of their starter, main course and rice/naan promotion. Staff are all beautiful people, so friendly and kind. Highly recommend visiting or ordering online.
Great little local restaurant in Farnham Drive serving the Caversham Park Village community. Fantastic authentic Nepali and Indian food - the lamb or pork momos are the best! The mixed BBQ platter is also fantastic, as are their special fried rice and garlic naan. They have a Monday-Wednesday deal which is great value for money - any starter+main+rice/naan for £15.95! :O
